Step into a soundscape where devotion meets the soul. Bhakti Spirit, the new album by spiritual pop artist Mahadev OK, is a vibrant celebration of mantra, movement, and modern soul. Blending world music textures with pop sensibility, yoga mantras, and deeply inspired lyrics, this album flows effortlessly between meditation and ecstasy—equally at home in quiet inner journeys and joyful, barefoot dancing.
Featuring 12 diverse, colorful, and uplifting tracks, along with 12 instrumental versions perfect for soundtracks and contemplative spaces, Bhakti Spirit is a complete sonic offering. The album shines with inspired collaborations from GuruGanesha Singh, Rosalyne, and Philippo Franchini, and delivers standout anthems like “Jap Man” and “Breath Is My God.” Released on February 1st, 2026, Bhakti SPirit arrives as an invitation—to breathe, to move, to remember, and to reconnect with joy, love, and inner guidance through music
Bhakti Spirit is the culmination of two and a half years of musical composition, writing, and recording.
The album's content summarizes a musical career that began in 1995 and offers an artistic culmination presented in the form of songs written in French and English, mantras in Sanskrit and Gurmukhi, and instrumental pieces.
Mahadev OK freely interprets these 12 pop and world music tracks, recorded in all corners of the globe. Indeed, this album is also the result of travels and file contributions from the community of musicians that Mahadev has cultivated over the past few decades of traveling and performing. India, France, England, the United States, Israel, Australia, Italy—the journey finds its final destination in the high-quality mixing by Fernando Peirera and the mastering by Chab, the latter also serving as artistic director for a Mahadev brimming with musical ideas.
This album is a crossover between international pop and meditation music. Long stretches of more than 10 minutes are enough to carry us into a meditative trance, then singles such as "Namaste", "Jap Man" or "Fleur de Vie" invite us in turn to dance, to hum and to travel joyfully.

Story
Setting a pauree from the Japji Sahib to music requires a certain affinity with Sikh musical tradition. Even if it proves impossible for a European to master both the pronunciation and the rhythmic inflection of the accompaniment, this work consists of letting bhakti, the devotional vibration, guide the inspiration. Here, I used the harmonium and electronic tablas to get as close as possible to the vibrations felt at the Golden Temple. The arrangement followed this spirit and gradually took on a freer, more cinematic scope, less typically Sikh, but still managing to retain the essence of the mantra revealed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Lyrics
There’s a place on earth where people grows and lives in peace
A small piece of land where you can play in harmony
It’s not paradise it’s just earth as it’s meant to be
You can make it yours it’s up to you just gotta say
Namaste everyone Namaste
It’s been a long way to reach the himalayas
Namaste everyone Namaste
Wahe Guru Ji Ka Khalsa Wahe Guru Ji Ki Fateh
Shakti powers casting her flow
through my spine I taste the radiance
Lovely snake you steal the show
You’re the star of the stadium
For sure they want me to merge
Into the mass of obedience
But I don’t feel like dancin’
Til bhakti spirit rises from the audience
There are trees bearing fruits and a river flowing down
No higher mountains than any where else in the world
This is simple life based on music and unity
We want to replace trouble with love
Namaste everyone Namaste, Namaste everyone Namaste
Story
From the second track onwards, we rediscover the light, pop-infused feel of Mahadev's previous albums and the strong influence of the Beatles and poetic hip hop. Rosalyne's voice continues to lighten the mood and propel this sonic project towards the destinations it promises to reach.

Jap Man takes its name from the Kirtan Opera produced by Mahadev, which tells the epic tale of a musician-gardener dispossessed of his land. This title borrows the Sikh mantra "Jap Man sat Nam sada Sat Nam" and punctuates the self-presentation of a rebellious Jap Man, displaying his connection to the divine mother and always equipped with a watering can, a harmless weapon but always ready to shower the egotistical inflammations of the being hungry for strong sensations.
Lyrics and chords
JAP MAN CAP IV
Am G C F
Am G F C
I’ve got a sweet weapon in my hand that one doesn’t hurt
No it doesn’t hurt gotta a sweet weapon in my hand
J.A.P printed out on my shirt
I believe in the efficiency of the word
The one you repeat to elevate your mind
Like anyone who doesn’t belong to the world
I’m just passing by they call me Jap Man
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam
Back home after a morning shift
Spirit full of magic Formulas
Vibrating so high no longer adrift
Gotta so much time for you my fellas
Repeat all day long all the sacred names
That’s a full time job Shakti is my wife
I’ve renounced the urge to get some more fame
Call me Jap Man it fills up my life
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam
If you need someone to help keep alive
The old tradition of the kirtanam
Get your honey from the best behive
Do your sadhana do the tarpanam
Give up the struggle we do enjoy life
Truth and awareness are the Divine Twins
He who dares win, stand up, be a man
There’s no such thing like life without Jap Man
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam
Jap Man Satnam Sada Sat Nam

I found myself on holiday in Sardinia with family and friends. For a bhakti musician, holidays are above all a precious time to play, compose, and record bhakti music. That's how our dear departed Philippo Franchini joined me on this track, contributing vocals and guitar. The original lyrics were "God is my Breath, Breath is my God." But of course, Philippo's bhakti touch transformed "God" into "Love" in the first verse, and that made all the difference. Philippo's vocal solo will forever remain in the Akashic Records of spirit pop music.

A track that joined the album at the last minute. The composition dated back to the summer of 2025, but I hadn't found the right key or regained the dexterity in my right hand to hold the fingerpicking. Then one morning, everything fell into place naturally. I sent the files to Stacie Flesher, who recorded her Provo drums in Utah, and then the magical Sachveer Singh recorded Jérôme Flamand's bass clarinet in Paris, a few days before mixing the project. Rakhe Rakhanhar is a guiding mantra that sometimes needs to be composed several times before reaching the desired result.
Lyrics
Rakhay rakhanahaar aap ubaaria-an

Hoaa aap da-iaal manaho na visaari-an
Saadh janaa kai sang bhavajal taari-an

With "Reiki" we return to the Jap Man Opera project, when the Divine Mother brings the hero back to life. The voices of Ananda Kanta and Rosalyne provide a welcome feminine touch to this moment in the album, and the music, composed primarily with Nada healing sounds, envelops the narrative in broad, healing waves.

An ode to Guru Ram Das, Lord of meditation, kindness, and devotion. The arrangement sounds like a Christmas carol, and the choirs, recorded during a bhakti night at the Jaya space in Paris, seem to perfectly capture the spiritual communion of the cacao ceremony. The piano and keyboards are played by the exceptionally talented Le Mans-based musician Ronan Hilaireau. The therapeutic bells are played with Joseph Schmidlin.

A piece that can accommodate the different traditions of bhakti yoga, that was the initial objective of Hari Om Maria. The generosity of GuruGanesha Singh, his voice and his solo guitars, the crystalline interventions of Madhurai Sumhara and Kim, the sitar of Narendra, all contribute to transforming this divine hotch potch into Satsang in the broadest sense of the term, that is to say, sitting and singing in the company of the sages.

This famous mantra, meaning "We are ourselves, we are God," is a classic in Kundalini Yoga. I used to often begin my Shakti Kirtan with this mantra, and I wanted to record this version. The 6/8 rhythm of the electronic tabla enhances the trance-inducing potential of this version, which can be useful during Kundalini Yoga meditation or for graceful celestial communications.

Upon learning that the text of this Sloka is attributed to Adi Shankara, the founder of Advaita Vedanta, I was delighted to have included this illustrious sage in the bhakti Spirit album. Indeed, Shankaracharya revived Sanatam Dharma in an India gripped by Buddhism and translated and commented on numerous Upanishads as well as the Bhagavad Gita. Ligastakam is an ode to Shiva Shakti, the parents of Tantra, whose practice is inherent in Bhakti Yoga.

When my Sikh Nihang friends shared this mantra with me, the music came spontaneously. Without going so far as to claim to have channeled the musical spirit of Punjab, I felt very close to what I had felt a few months earlier when I spent a few days in Anandpur Sahib, during and after the Hola Mohola celebrations.

This artistic endeavor needed to conclude with an angelic moment of relaxation, and this was made possible thanks to Rosalyne's unique performance in the opera Jap Man. Interpreting the Flower of Life with all the freshness that her recent blossoming could offer, the album can be allowed to close on Rosalyne's ethereal notes, the Flower of Life, embalming the final sounds of this small musical cathedral.
